Wish2Fish
Hey, a friend just offered me the use of his slip on Prior Lake for the remainder of the open water season. I've never kept my boat on the water--it's always covered on my trailer. My question is...do I need a different type of boat cover to protect the boat while it's in the slip? The cover I have now has long staps and a draw string (rope). My boat (Skeeter/fiberblass) doesn't have snaps or anything for a cover....Any suggestions? Thanks. Surface Tension
That cover isn't intended for covering your boat while docked, you'll need a mooring cover if you want to keep the sun and rain off. Get yourself an automatic bulge pump.
The Grebe
Ask your friend what proceedures he uses for his boat?
V-12 Merlin
I hate to admit it, but my boat stays in the water all spring, summer and fall. I have a cover that's supposed to be for trailering, storage and mooring. It's just a generic cover that doesn't fit perfectly, and doesn't snap to the boat (which is fiberglass). It has a draw string, and that's what I use for mooring. While it's not a perfect solution, you may be able to get by for a month or so without permanent damage to the cover - assuming your cover is similar. I agree The Grebe - you may find the best advice by asking your friend - but, that's my 2 cents. And, I also agree with the bilge pump suggestion - mine gets used after a heavy rain, even with the cover on....
