Hi, my name is Dan and I am new to this Forum. I am interested in getting into some tournaments (either bass, or multi-species) but I could really use some information on...how do I find out where tournaments are being held, what requirments are their on boats used in tournaments, how much does it cost to get into a tournament, and any other information you might be able to supply me with. I would mainly like information on tournaments within 75 miles of the Twin Cities. I really look forward to hearing from anyone who can help me with this. Thanks for your help and im sure I will be posting again soon. Dan

Danny-

Each league or open tounament may or may not have different rules, entry fees, requirements, limmits ect.. I have been in tounaments that only cost me $10 to enter, and ones that have cost me $1000 to enter. Most repuire insurance on your boat, expeciallyif its a draw tounament, where you will have someone else in your boat.

Keep an eye on bait shops in your area for open tournaments, keep an eye on the Tournaments forum here in Fishing Minnesota. FM has a leage called LETS that is quite fun. ITs multi species.

If you are more interested in Bass, I would contact B.A.S.S. and see what local clubs there are in your area.

There are a lot of tournaments around. Saturday ones, week night ones. Just have to keep your eyes and ears open.

Dan:

I'm from Canada and I'm a fishing guide. I spend hundreds of days fishing with folks from the Twin Cities area. Many of these people are exceptional anglers and probably everyone of the best ones fish in club tournaments. Meaning they belong to a bass fishing club in the Twin Cities area. One of my best friends belongs to a club in Plymouth and he has improved his bass fishing prowess since fishing in his club events. He will be fishing in the State tournament in Sept. I am envious of the club system and wish we could gather enough bass fishermen in my area to enjoy the learning experience and club tournaments. If I were you I'd look around for a club in your area. Tournaments are cheap and always close to home. You don't even need a boat!

Good Luck
