Fishinglund
Hello all!Has anyone fished this lake or stayed at a resort on the lake? How is the fishing during the second week of June? We are mainly walleye and northen fishermen. Any info will be appreciated.Thank you!Fishinglund
Doonbuggy
Our group of six had a fun time up there in the summer of '02. We stayed at Birch Point Resort (google it for their HSOforum) and I would go back.It was a smaller resort, I think 8-12 cabins, and the owners were pretty good if I remember. Our last day we caught about 75 walleyes in eight hours. We had to go in and get more bait! Most were eater size, but I caught two mid 20's and they both came on bigger crankbaits during the middle of the day. Smallies and pike are in there, too.Very scenic and not a lot of development so if you like a smaller resort with good fishing with not a lot of pressure it's a good place to go to. Watch for moose, particularly at night, fyi.DB
Fishinglund
Does anybody know where I might be able to get a lake map of this lake? How big is the lake?ThanksFishinglund
Doonbuggy
I think the lodge I mentioned above actually emailed me a map so we could look it over. I don't know the acreage, but we didn't touch it all over an entire week, I know that.
Fishinglund
Doonbuggy! Thanks for the input! I reserved a cabin at the resort for June 10-17, 2006. I can't wait to get there. Is the lake reasonably easy to navigate? I realize that not all hazards are going to be marked, but are there any particular areas to watch out for? Do you have to go far to find fish? Any help is appreciated! Thanks,Fishinglund
wallayewolloper
I have fished the lake for three years now, we go up the first week-end of June. We always stay for a week. It is hit or miss. Not of lot of big ones but alot of eaters. We stay at kasabowie resort. Great people. They have turned us on to some smaller lakes which we do fairly well. Most of the fish in the smallert lakes lakes range from 20 to 28 inchers. Not too far away. We hit a small lake this year abot 6 miles from the resort and caught about 50 small mouth from 16 to 22 in. What a blast! Too bad the season was closed at that time. Don't get me wrong but kashabowie has some big big fish in it. Big body of water. We are slowly learning it. Last year the owners took us to a lake where we caught some really nice lake trout. Great people!
SCONASOTAN
my family fishes the lake every year the week before labor day. We stay at kashabowie resort. they are the nicest, and most laid back people I have ever come across. Never in a hurry but always attentive to what you need. we can fish every year, some times you got to look a little bit. The fish in the past 2 years have been getting bigger. but there are a ton of eaters in the lake. There is lake trout, northerns and smallies in there too. a lot of water to fish. Try cranks in Skunk Bay along the main break( you should find it easily). Have caught our biggest fish out in the trout bay area. Have caught many nice smallies in there. Our family goes there because the fishing is good, but mostly because it is so cheap that we can never turn it down. You'll have a good time. Fishinglund
I appreciate the info! I will try some of those spots that you mentioned! Also, if anyone else has any experience on the lake, I would love to read about it!Thanks,Fishinglund
Doonbuggy
Fishinglund - Happy to hear you have booked your trip. You should have a good time. If Trout Bay is in the northern part of the lake that is where I caught a couple of the bigger walleyes. Jig/minnow caught the eaters and bigger cranks caught the bigger fish. Go figures. Looking back I should have thrown cranks more often....DB
