leechlake
I've been hunting deer with a muzzeloader for half dozen years or so (rifle for 20 plus). In October I'm going to New Mexico Elk hunting in a primitive weapon area (I am using a 2X-7X scope)with my muzzleloader. Anyone have any experience with with some info on proper bullet weight and powder. I shoot pyrodex and while I have time to experiment with loads I'd sure like some first hand experience. My buddy shoots 150 grains of pyrodex but I'm wondering if that is necessary and or ideal with a 285 grain or so bullet. Presently, with the scope on my muzzleloader I'm comfortable at 100 yards and not quite comfortable enough at 150 but working on it. Thanks for any experienced info.
