FISHINGFARMER
Was curious if anyone has been to the Ghost River Camp area trying for eyes and gators this summer? We are considering trying this area next summer for our summer vacation. Has anyone been here before and what was your thoughts on the experience you hade there. It sounds and looks like it would be a good time, leave the roads behind and boat in,but maybe not have the extra expense of flying into a lake. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Farmer
FOOTDOC
I was lucky enough to go to Ghost River camp a few years ago with 9 friends. We stayed at their remote cabin that slept 10 and was not too far from their main lodge. We had a blast and caught a fair number of fish. They have a guide named Don who is very knowledgable regarding the area. We found the best fishing to be to the far east and a bit south by Twin Falls. It is truly beautiful with these twin water falls and three or four pools that are at the base of the falls. At that time, they held a lot of walleyes and northerns. Two or three guys did the portage thing to other lakes and caught some lakes and whitefish. Overall a great experience but I will probably not repeat it as there are so many new areas to continue to explore. Good luck and have fun!! FISHINGFARMER
FOOTDOC: Thanks for the report on your time up there. Curious did you take your own boat on the trip or use one of the base camps boat? Still a good option to leave open for a remote area trip. Can I ask was the boats on the lake busy or did you feel like it was a remote experience? I would think were you can't drive to it that the camp would be a layed back time! Thanks for the update. FOOTDOC
This was a very remote experience with no other boats in site and no other boats passed by. One of the most scenic things I will remember is that on the way to twin falls, you have to pass under a real neat canadian railway bridge that is incredibly built. Once we were jigging around the bridge abutments and a train came thru hauling timbers. It was just neat to see this in the middle of nowhere and the view was awesome. We used camp boats and I am happy we did as they were very adequate as I remember.
