abu garcia 5000 and 5500 reels

on my abu garcia reels the line feeder that enenly distributes line on to the reel gets caught on one side so the line isnt evenly put on can anyone tell me how to fix this? do i need to take out the threaded part inside the reel and look for burrs. i already sent one reel in and i have 2 more that this happen to. i dont want to wait 4 weeks to get the reels back. any info would be appreciated

I had the same problem with some of my older Garcia reels. The little metal piece that runs in those grooves under that long gear gets worn down. The only fix is to replace it with a new gear and guide.
