Devils Lake area report

Recommended Posts

Walleye fishing continues to be excellent on Devils Lake! Mostly nice eater sized fish are being caught now but some nicer fish are still mixed in. Bottom bouncers and spinners and slip bobbers in the trees have been producing the best numbers of fish and the guys trolling cranks in the deeper water are seeing smaller numbers of fish but much better size. Excellent reports have been coming in from across the entire lake so anywhere you dock you wont be far from some excellent fishing.

Its time to start thinking about hunting season and with harvest in full swing its easy to start getting the fever. I've been out putting some miles on already and it looks like its going to ben another excellent year for ducks and Canada Geese. Honkers are everywhere and every slough seems to be filled with ducks.

We are going to start putting a fishing and waterfowl report on once a week so keep checking in to see how things are shaping up around the Devils Lake area. Its time to dsut off the decoys, it wont be long now!

Back in June and July they were talking wqe were going to hit an all time high. But with the hot temps in late july and early August the lake has gone down about 6-8 inches. On Wednesday there were heavy rains all around Devils Lake. Twenty miles to the west they had 2 inches and 40 miles north they got 3 inches and all that water comes into Devils Lake. So the water we lost is all coming right back.
