mnhunter2
I need some advice on building a fish house frame, I have a 6.5x12 steel frame that currently has a very heavy dual hyrdralic rams to lift the trailer and I would like to cut that off and take the frame and add the retractable wheels and hitch to it some my question is how hard is it to get everything straight so it tows okay and where is the best place to get the parts at a fair price? I'm pretty handy and have all the tools and a shop to work in just haven't built a trailer before.
hawkeye43
the hitch is the easiest part to do. You build on top of the old hitch that is there now. the drop-down wheels is where you have to get the camber, the toe-in and make sure you have the right amount of weight on the hitch. Take into acount where gas tanks, batterys and other things are that might change the weight load around. The houses I have done 10 to 12 inches in front of center seems to work the best. The camber you should make more so that once the weight of the house is on the wheels, it looks weird to tip them much, but that changes when the weight on the wheels that they run straight, that is the hardest part. If it is at all possible, see if you can get the wheels to follow in the same path as the truck wheels. If and when we get alot of snow again, it alot easier to pull a house that they do follow in the same track, unless you like plowing roads to get thought, then everyone could follow the same path too.
