catman71
Mr. Special, you were right. I skipped the chain this weekend and fished channel cats on the Mississippi this Sunday. I was right in the middle of the river (by Sartell) fishing a little hump (25') next to 30' of water. About as much current as you'll get up there. I caught 2 nice cats, 1 about 6# and one about 8. a few rock bass and 4 pesky walleyes that kept messing up my cat action, all in about 2 hours. Just crawlers and some berkley stink bait. I was hoping to catch a sucker to cut up, any thoughts on a good spot to catch some in the middle of summer?
Mr Special
Sweet,I'm glad my tips actually help and you got into some nice kitties. As for finding the suckers, try creek inlets or slacker water. Just a plain slip rig and crawler should work. I don't know that area very well. But I know the Montissippi Park kicks out some suckers and bullheads. If you live close to the Sauk there's bullheads and suckers everywhere I've fished.Good luck
