XP won't capture my video

I have a Canon ZR20 that connects to my laptop with a IEEE1394 firewire but (MS)Movie Maker won't capture the video at all? I did get the XP SP2 update and have heard this maybe a cause but does anyone know how to fix it? I am not too computer savvy so please keep it simple if you have any ideas.

Camera is turned on? And on Play "vcr" and not camera? Movie Maker is open? Firewire cable is hooked up correctly.

Does XP recognize the Camera.

Can you try the USB Cable instead?

What happens when you select "capture Video from device" ?

does it say no device found?

Firewire can be a little flaky, with the camera on try unplugging the Firewire from the Computor do it a few times it should pick up the camera.

Yes everything was on and plugged in right. I actually found a fix from a different site. It was pretty easy.

Go to start, run,

type in:

regsvr32 %windir%\system32\qdv.dll

hit enter

(note: must be a space between regsvr32 and the first % sign.)

Got an OK box, and everything works great!

Nice.....strange though I have the Canon zr65 and my firewire has worked from the start......which site helped you?

I was looking at so many forums I don't remember now. Did you do the SP2 update? Don't know why my went out but seems like there are a quite a few people out there with the same problem.
