The one we are staying at is just east of Shell lake off Hwy 53. I think I will try Shell lake Friday for Muskies..Looking at the contour map for Shell lake it doesn't look like it has much strucure for walleys..But the rest of the time I would like to fish Long Lake for walleyes and Muskies if it has Muskies? I do'nt know/.

Just peeked at the WI DNR site and they do not have a Long L in Washburn Co listed as one of the state's musky waters. If you fish Shell, focus on south bay unless you have open water/trolling experience.

I'll keep the muskie gear in the locker when we try Long Lake then, thanks! I am new to muskie fishing. I went out with a guide on Mille Lacs earlier this year. We had 2 follows. the second was a 45+ fish who showed herself right at that boat. I was doing the figure eights all afternoon save this one retrieve and sure enough I had her right at the boat. If I had done it who know's.... I didn't set the hook in one that day but I believe muskie fishing set it's hook in me. So I have done zero open water trolling. But I have been reading all the publications I can find time to read & I have watched some video's. I've purchased alot of gear to get a big Muskie unhooked and back in the water again as quick as possible. I just need to start putting the time in on some potential Muskie waters. But any other advise or tips would be greatly appreciated! E-mail is [email protected]

Thanks!
