looking at new baitcasting reels

hey,

looking at new baitcasters and was wondering what everything thinks. I've been looking at Cabela's new Prodigy and also the Quantum Energy and the Quantum Accurist. Just wondering what everyone thinks and if anyone has any recommendations. Thanks!

What are you planning on using your baitcaster for mostly? I would go with one of the Abu Garcia reels in you're fishing for muskies, pike, or catfish. If you are bass fishing or something else, then I like Shimano. The only Quantum baitcaster I have used is the Iron, so I can't give you much feedback on those reels and I haven't tried the Cabela's reels yet.

Freight Train - If you frequent the Cabela's store much and check out the bargain cave you'll notice a disproportionate number of Cabela'a brand reels for sale there. That has to reveal something about the quality/reliability of their reels.

I'm not knocking Cabela's - I give them a fair amount of business. Just making an observation on this one specific product.

I bought a Quantom accurist last year and I loved it. Its a nice smooth reel. I ran 12 lb and 14 lb line through it and it worked flawlessly.
