Transducer questions.???

I have a portable graph .. That used a suction cup to attach the transducer to the bottom of the boat.. I did not like that set up so I have made a board that can be clamped to the back on the boat and can be adjusted to where ever I want it.. So the question is Do I submerge the transducer like it was before or set it so it just barely skims the water ? It is not a speed transducer for dont worry about that part !!!!

You want the ducer to be as close to level with the bottom of the boat as possible, that way you don't get interfearence from the boat.
