wildirishrose
Want to bring my Dad out to Erie and have him get a 10+ pound eye. Can anyone recomend a good charter/place to stay and also the best time of year to go to catch the BIG fish? Sort of looking for an "all inclusive" type place. Thanks, Adam
abens1078
Lake Erie borders about 4 states and Canada, Is there a certain state you were thinking. My only experiences are from Huron, Ohio(western basin) in early November. In 2003 we caught 4 over 10lbs and in 2004 we only got one over 10lbs. Most any hotel you go to will have a stack of charter advertisements. We usually pull our own boat out there but last year it got to rockin a little to much for us so we booked the Pirate Clipper out of Vermillion. I like November but alot of the big boats are getting pulled out by then and you can end up fishing in your icefishing coveralls if you do go out. If that's alright with you I'd say Ohio in Novemeber but again my experience are limited. Also try a Google search and hsolist. Our charter captain told us he will put trips up for auction on hsolist for mid week times when he knows his schedule could be slow.
