P-Line Flouroclear problems...and other line comments

I bought a spool of 6lb test p-line flouroclear and put it on several of my spinning reels. Was looking for a line that was a good all around line for shorefishing panfish and walleyes and river smallies. For awhile I thought I found it in flouroclear. But...I'm having breakage probs now, after about 2 weeks of use. The line is breaking unexepectedly and randomly. Knots seem to be holding. Is this line getting brittle ???? I feel power pro 10/2 is too noisy, mccoy mean green doesn't cast well,4lb yo-zuri hybrid too stiff, berkley sensation is just OK at best.

When you are casting from shore, covering alot of water, making repeated casts...a line that manages well is important. That 6lb flouroclear was just right for crappies, walleyes, and river smallies. Now the stuff is breaking too readily. I'm losing fish and lures way too easy. Help....

That sounds really odd, I haven't had any problems with flouroclear, and it has been on 4 of my reels for over 3 months now. Still working great! What kind of reel are you using? Id check to make sure that your roller on your bail is working properly. Floroclear is heat sensitive and becomes brittle if there is excess heat caused by friction. Did this line bake in the sun for a few days? I'm just throwing ideas out here, not too positive on anything. One thing I know for sure is that heat is the greatest enemy for flourocarbon, and it causes it to become brittle. If your having problems with all types of lines, maybe it's your reel? I had a $60 quantum that just created birds nest after birds nest from the day I bought it. I thought it was bad line, but changed it 3 times and it happened every time. Hopefully you can figure out whats going on.

Check your rod guides too especially the tip. I had one rod that was nicking my line due to a bad guide causing similiar problems. I've been using Pline for a few years with no problems.

I used the P-line Flouroclear last winter for leaders on my ice rods and it worked well...no complaints. I do have a buddy that swears by SeaGuar flourocarbon, however. I checked it out and it is very expensive, but supposed to be one of the best out there. JH

I have been using P-Line with no problems.

I have had problems with Vanish at times. I only use floro for leaders. At times it seems brittle. P-line has been better.
