Looking to purchase my first boat, input appreciated!

Question

I know it's an open question but i'm looking at what I could possibly get for a grand or 2 for a boat. mainly I just want something to putz around the metro lakes with a reliable motor.

Like a 14-15 foot to pull w/ my accord.

I know it's tough to find a good boat for a grand but mainly it's just something to hold me over until I can get a nice walleye boat for big water in like 3-5 yrs.

Thanks guys and let me know what you think for tips/experience with some old boats/motors.

For $1000-$2000 you are paying more for the motor than you will for the boat if you are looking used. There are lots of 14' boats out there with some decent options for that price range.

For around $2000, maybe a hair over, you should be able to find a 14' fully rigged from the mid 80's to early 90's.. complete with motor and electronics(floor, livewell, etc). If you have a need for a bench type boat, or dont mind them, they can be purchased for a little over a grand new.
