Vermillion bay Area Report 6/18-6/24

Fished around the V. Bay area mainly for muskies, fishing was nothing short of outstanding. Between 2 Guys boated 22 Ski's, 6 fish over 40 inches, 1 being 48". Saw MANY other fish over 40", bigger fish were caught on sandbars and in the grass, cabbage held smaller fish. Topwater action drew a lot of lookers but not too many takers, the Bulldawg and small bucktails were the hot ticket

Walleye fishing was good as well, no one at the resort had any problems with many upper 20" fish caught. We caught our fish in the trees in the evening pitching leeches under a float.

Bass are still on the rocks, caught around 10 while musky fishing all small.

Weather was mainly hot and sunny, there was an AWFUL storm that hit the area on Thursday night, 6/23, I have never seen winds like this! Knocked down 9 trees right on our resort grounds with downed trees all over roads, power lines, and cabins. When I Left the area power was still out in the V. Bay Area.

Other then that everything was great!

Pout, I was actually on Canyon Lake....BUT, I will also be on the same chain as you that week of the 16th, I am going to Indian Lake lodge for the second time. Stayed there last year at the same time in July and did fantastic, I love the area. Have you ever been up there before? Maybe we can exchane some info, [email protected] if you are interested

I am going up with my son, fiance, and blind friend on July 23rd to the 30th, and we are staying at Indian Lake Lodge for the first time. Any helpful hints, tactics, what lakes to fish, tackle to use, etc... would be greatly appreciated. We mainly fish Walleyes, but are very interested in getting into some of those BIG Muskies that the Indian Lake Chain is famous for too. I can hardly wait for my son to see his first big muskie coming after his lure, that moment will be priceless for me. Thanks a lot!

I can help you out a little bit, also do not hestitate to contact the owner, Kevin, he is extremely helpful. Fish on the lake often prefer smaller baits, I boated over 20+ ski's last year on A Mepps #5, gold bladed with brown fur.....not your typical musky lure but extremely effective for boating musky in numbers. You want to throw this in timber and also look for "smallmouth rubble", smaller rocks instead of the larger boulders. A few of these shoreline spots are found on Edwards Lake.

Bring a Topraider for sure and fish the many "logpits" that are in Indian and Edwards, you can find fish in these all the time, early evening was the best for me.

You can throw bigger baits for bigger fish in Little Boulder, the last lake in the chain. Caught some larger fish on a topraider and also the Manta.
