Vikings: Birk eyeing preseason opener

Vikings Pro Bowl center Matt Birk, who is recovering from May hip surgery, told the Minneapolis Star Tribune that he won't be able to run for three weeks, but he feels better than he has for a year. "I'll have to take it easy for the first couple weeks of training camp, but I'm confident I will be ready for the opening exhibition game," Birk told the paper.

I think Birk' career is done. These injuries are far too common. We'll see.
