Question

Valv , You mentioned replacing water pumps yearly on a previous post. My F90 4 stroke Yammaha motor is a few years old now and I have not replaced it yet.

I did put a hour meter on the motor the day I bought it and have 64 hours on the motor. Am I due ?

I fish the southern lakes and seldom power load due to the shallow waters the past few years.

THANKS !

Well I might be obsessed with it, but I would change it.

Look it at this way.

Complete water pump kit: $ 45.00 + 2 hrs labor

Complete powerhead, rebuilt: $ 3,500.00 + 8 hrs labor

Which one is more feasible ? Why risk it ?

To me it doesn't make sense when we spend a fortune for futile accessories on our boats, but we postpone (or ignore) a relative inexpensive routine maintenance like water pump impeller.

Yes, whole rig looks cool cool.gif .....but it won't move confused.gif

And you know what? Those dang things go at the most inopportune time. I had to replace mine this year right before the opener, as a matter of fact when everyone else was out fishing that Saturday am, I was putting the lower unit back on my boat.
