bakers narrows lodge "Lake Athapapuskow"

Recommended Posts

going there this weekend, was wondering if anyone has been there. Is there any secret weapon tackle that I need to take with so I can win our biggest fish contest. We will be going for pike, walleye and lake trout. My first time in Canada, can't wait til the weekend.

jonboy,

I have fished that area many times usually on Jan Lake or Deschambeau Lake. In that area the old adage...Big Lures equal = big fish is definately true. For Pike we would throw great big Daredevils (Black and white) Muskysized Spinnerbaits in black and red, Just about any bucktail in black and red or black and silver, and I would never go up there without a 10" black suick. Notice something in common with all of these lures?????? Find cabbage beds in 8-10 feet of water and hang on.

For Walleye we just used a jig and the head of one of those fermaldahyde (sp?) minnows. smile.gif The 2 pounders were easy to catch. I had a contest with myself one day and in one hour I caught and released 71 walleyes....just crazy laugh.gif

And my last piece of advice. When going through Flin Flon you cannot pass by Mike's Ice and Burger Hut without stopping and grabbing lunch or Dinner. I guarantee you will want to go back just to eat there again laugh.gif
