So here's the question - where is it legal/illegal to shoot? Can you set up in your own yard? What about private property within or outside city limits? I am new to bow hunting and apologize if this happens to be a stupid question. Thanks for some insight.

Check your city ordinance to see if you can discharge a bow in your yard. In blaine you can only shoot a bow in certain areas.

Speaking of Blaine, here is part of the ordinance:

Sec. 50-115. Discharge of deadly weapon limited; archery permit; special permit at funerals; hunting with firearm.

(a) Except as specifically authorized in this division and in article VII, chapter 22 of this Code, all discharging and use of deadly weapons within the city are hereby prohibited.

( The city manager may issue permits for archery ranges within the city to allow the discharge and use of bows and arrows in conjunction with an approved archery range.
