drop shotting for big bass

buzzin for bass

Buzz,

The knot I use for the hook is the palomar. As D-Man has mentioned in his post in Feb. You must run the line (that attaches to the weight) down and thru the top of the eye of the hook, thus forcing the hook to stay upright. Then you attach the weight to the line (usally 10" to 16" from the hook). This was a tip that Skeet Reece gave on a Bassmasters a quite a few years back and it is a great acheivement. I also tie a swivel about 10" above the hook, which helps to keep the line from twisting as bad.

This last weekend my partner and I boated over 50 fish using this technique. All of our fish came on 5-1/2" curly tailed Robo worms in the Prism Shad and Warmouth colors. 2 weekends ago I caught a 6.01 Largemouth, same thing with the Warmouth color. This fish came on a rocky point next to deep water, at 5' depth.

Rip 'em Buzz!

Dan
