Fishdeer
not enough water going through the motor, dribbles out at times, heard could be bad sensor on these newer motors, or is pump shot, and i dont run fear of wreckage
0 Tom Wilson
Fishdeer, I bought one of the new 25 hp Mercuha's (they're made for Mercury by Yamaha) fall before last for the duck boat. Completely freaked out because every time it would get cold it would put no water through the motor until it had run 5-7 minutes plus. I called Mercury to find out that there is a temperature sensor in the motor, and it will only pump water when it gets to a certain temp--they assured me that there was no problem, and I have been watching it do that for the last two duck seasons. It just kills you though because, if it's not pumping water you don't know whether its not up to temp or whether it's not working. Personally, I would like to see it pump water all of the time, but I have this same issue and my motor runs like a top. As the weather gets warmer you should see it come on a lot quicker, if it starts pumping (or dribbling--mine does the same thing)then everything should be fine with it. Never hurts to get it looked at though.
