Namakagon is a good lake and you should be there at a time to find fish off all species ready to fall victim of your presentations.

Namakagon is stained, has a lot of available structure, and has good fish populations. The only draw back, is the fish seem to be on the smaller size comapared to surrounding lakes and it does have quite a bit of boat traffic.

For your trip, most fish should be still up in the shallows so look there first.

For walleyes, especially if you find wind blown shorelines, you will find them right up along shore by casting cranks or pitching jigs. If it is calm and you have a lot of sun, slip back to the first break and you should find them with a vertical jigging presentation or slip bobbers. Dont overlook the new weed growth either, a lot of people pass this up for rocky shores, but a lot of 'eye relate to weeds on Namakagon.

For panfish, I would say your time frame will be looking right into spawn. So look shallow in the bays. A lot of nice crappies in Namakagon. But be selective on these guys, they get hammered hard.

Bass, there are a few nice ones, but most run pretty small. I never target them here, but pick up a few while fishing. Should be spawn time for them too...

Alot of pike in the lake, and they are just about everywhere. They run on the small side too, but make for good fun when other species arent cooperating.

And then the Musky... Namakagon isnt known for huge fish, but they are there. I have seen 50" fish caught but their numbers are low. Good population of them in the lake. My first time out on Namakagon this year, while fishing for 'eyes I hooked into a 45" inch fish. Got it boatside and it had one more run and it snapped me off. Muskies in the lake are really structure orientated, a lot of em on the rocks and a lot of them on the weeds. I have caught most of my fish on bright colors in this lake.

Hope this helps, there are so many spots on Namakagon to fish for these species, you shouldnt have a problem finding them.

We typically troll for muskies and get some bonus bigger northerns. There are pretty decent smallies all over. My little walleye hint: try downed wood like you would fish for crappies. Around the bridge in the NW corner and down the Namakagon river you can have a blast catching pike and bass. Hope this helps. Good Luck -- Pax

I fished Namakagon yesterday, specifically for panfish. Where there were a lot of fish in the shallows, still gearing for the spawn. I found them in back bays of the main lakes from 2 feet of water to a half of foot. Crappies and Gills, along with a few small northerns and one small musky. Seen some nice largemouths too, but they didnt want anything to do with my baits.

Walleyes, should still be hanging off the first break, from what I was seeing on my graph.

Good Luck
