Caught this on the Minnesota a while back. It was approx 18-20" 3-4lbs. My thought is that it was a buffalo, but I'm not sure.

Yep, Smallmouth Buffalo. I've also landed them from the Minnesota River. Is this the only one you've seen there? ~hogsucker

this is the only one I've caught there personally. I was confused because I saw roughfisher's post with a smallmouth and it's not the same fish (notice behind the dorsal fin).

It's the same species. Look at the over all body shape, its the same. The white coloration, the black eye, the shape of the dorsal fin, and the placement of the mouth. It is definatley a smallmouth buffalo.
