SAVING SPACE?

I have a 16' boat with a side console. I will be fishing three this weekend(2 adults and one child). I am thinking of ways to have the most space as possible. My question is can I have only 2 seats( driver and one other) or do I have to have a seat for everyone? I was thinking my son could sit on the floor while we are moving.

There is no law that states you have to have a seat for every person on a boat. You can have 1 seat and everybody else sit on floor, it's not a problem.

Just be sure lifejackets are worn, looks like this weekend we'll get stong winds, and a good chop.

I hope that they never change that law! I only have 2 "seats" in my 17 foot jon boat. However, the quality of seat that you have when you fish with me depends on the lawn chair you brought along for yourself. I learned early on that making good hole shots was not a good thing if all your guests are in unsecured chairs!

That reminds of a time when I was trying to stay in the boat while sitting on a cooler in a buddy's boat on Millelacs one time while scooting across the lake. That's hard when the cooler is jumping around and your jumping around while hitting the waves.
