0 marine_man
We're going to need a little more information.. any idea what you're turning for RPM at wide open? How big / long of a boat? And to clarify.. do you want speed, or hole shot - because it's a balance.. you'll pick up speed, but lose holeshot, or you're pick up holeshot, but you'll lose speed.marine_man
0 MWellner
I will still have the regular prop-10x13 just for fishing. Its a 2001 1650 Lund Rebel tiller 16'7"2003 Yamaha
0 Ralph Wiggum
You're going to run into problems towing anyone other than a kid skiing. 50 hp just isn't enough ooomph.
0 marine_man
I'll disagree a little Ralph.. I used to ski behind my dad's Lund WS-16 boat with a 40 HP Johnson on the back... this was about 5 years ago when I weighed about 175... but if you know how to get up you could do it... it wasn't easy.. but one could do itRegardless, you need to clarify if you want more speed or more holeshot... translation - do you need more power to get the skier out of the water, or do you need more speed to keep the skier up?Also, since you didn't provide any RPM information I presume you don't have a tachometer? If you go with a lower pitch prop your rpm is going to go up (I imagine that with your current prop you're right where you need to be) and if you go with a higher pitch prop you'll lose RPM... marine_man
0 Ralph Wiggum
Yes, it is possible to ski behind a 50, but much less than ideal. Any adult would have no problem completely stopping that boat on a cut. And you'd definitely have to know how to ski to get out of the water. Learning behind a 50 is really tough. I tried.
