Rainbow Shiners

I was passing by a drainage creek today and 2 young boys were netting minnows....a bunch of gold shiners and ALOT of rainbow shiners.....now these fellas were not keeping these rainbows, said they had never used em for fishing.

Has anyone used these and if so, any luck?

Rainbow Shiner? never heard of that one... Rainbow Chubs, yes... and they work well.

I used to seine ditches in the fall for rainbow chubs.

They are an excellent bait for eyes then.

If they were catching rainbow chubs, they are great bait year round! They are a very active minnow and have very small scales (like trout) and almost all fish love them!
