ktjig
I've heard that the bog fishing can be good on the Chip. I've got a buddy with a new cabin on the Flowage and we're wondering how you fish them, or find them for that matter. We'll be up on the opener on the South West side. If walleyes aren't going we'll be trying for crappies. We did nothing on Yellow two weekends ago. Any good crappie spots on the SW side of the flowage.Thanks- He's a golfer so we need help. Uncle Bill
Bogs are bogs. They move around. Here today, gone tommorro. They move with the current or wind. They especially move around after a big storm. They tend to get deposited in the bays and backwaters. Some have trees and appear to be a small island. Some are just a blob of goo. Usually plenty of bogs around the Hermans landing area. Pull up tight to a bog and drop a line right next to her, or as far out as 10 to 12 ft.
ktjig
Do you ever fish the sunken bogs? If so, how do you keep from getting hung up?
rustymusky
I have tried floating bogs several with minimal luck, submerged bogs on the other hand have produced great catches of walleye and crappie and a slue of bullheads. As far as getting avoiding snags, good luck. i like to use a lighter jig with 8 lb fire line, when you get snagged you can generally pull the jig free then fix your hook with a pair of needle nose, if you do this, loosen your drag after you set the hook so you don't lose fish from a weeker hook. i like to drift till i find fish then anchor and throw out a bobber and a lindy rig. hope this helps!!
