Steering Cable

I have a mid 1970's Weeres pontoon that needs a new steering cable. The cable is 17' long and a new teleflex brand is $110-$200. i hate to spend that much on this old rig we just use as a family launch. Any idea where to buy used cables or other options?

Can you just go to a hardware store and by 17-20 feet of bulk coated cable for around 10-15 bucks? That's what I did for my runabout and it works fine.

You can get a new cable and new helm for $ 85 at web address below....

$ 30 for cable only, but yours might be a little too old. It would be better if you can come and check it out.
