Brand name questions...

Just curious...

I find that some brand names seem to be closely connected... even similar and almost identical products... Whats the relationships. And if they are made by the same companies.. why do they have two seperate lines and not just one?

1- Eagle and Lawrance?

2- Johnson and Evinrude?

Eagle and Lowrance ar both owned by the same parent company with the Eagle brand being the lower priced lower feature products. Johnson and Evinrude are both OMC companies with the Johnson being the low cost engine. It's kinda like the difference between Pontiac and Chevrolet. Similar products just Pontiac had more standard features and cost more.
