River Bass early

Any tips for some early season river bassing? General tips would be good, cause I'm in school in WI right on the WI river, and I can only catch so many little eyes. I want to start on the smallies soon.

TRY THE MISSISSIPPI THE WHITE BASS BITE ON MINNONS. YOU MIGHT GET A WALLEYE AS WELL. WE WENT OUT TODAY AND GOT A GOOD RUN..THIS IS A PICTURE OF MY BUDDY BLACKSPORTSMAN..

I'd like to, but I'm not exactly near the miss anymore. Any tips for early smallies?

A few are getting picked up trying to get the 'eyes. I'd try tubes around timber and bridges, maybe tip it with a minnow, but that might get you more eyes than bass.
