spring engine start up.

Question

I have a four stroke motor that was winterized last fall before storage. My question is, can I just hook up the gas line and start it up or is there a few things I should do before I start it, besides putting the muffs on. Second question is, what do the rest of you burn for fuel, unleaded or do you burn the premium.

I have a four stroke that I winterized myself last fall. I started it in the driveway with muffs, and it has run perfect. For gas, I run un-oxygenated premium. The ethynol in Minnesota pump gas breaks down after 30 days, causing fuel systems to gum up. The gas I use doesn't have that in it, therefore isn't a problem. I have never had a fuel problem in any of my boats.

kslip said it just as I would.

Just fire it right up, there's nothing special you need to do, and as far as fuel, run non-ox regular unleaded, I learned that lesson the hard way, trust me.

It can be a little difficult to find stations that carry non-ox, but they're around, and you'll pay 3-5 cents more per gallon, but it will save you in the long run.
