Sharpening hooks

This may be a stupid question but here goes. I read some posts about guys sharpening their own fishing hooks on lures, etc. How do you do this? Is there a special tool? Do you just use a file? Any info is appreciated.

piker. there is a discussion in the muskie forum about this also. i use a file , and only sharpen three sides( if possible)there are elect/batt operated ones that work also. lightly touch up each of the three sides( not the side with the barb) till the hook sticks when you try to slide it accross your thumb nail.
