NMEA 2000 and "Unused wires"

ssaamm

Question

I finally broke down and bought a new depth finder the other day (x-102c). When I was getting the unit wired up, the manual talks about NMEA and unused wires. I get the impression that for my boat and basic needs that I don't really need these hooked up to anything. If that is the case, can they be trimmed back to get all the extra wire out of the way? I got the unit to power up so I thought that was a good start. Your words of wisdom would be appreciated as always. Thanks. Go Twins!

Just a note you don't need those wires but make sure you trim off any exposed wire and tape each wire individually as not to touch each other. if you don't they will interfere with the gps locking in. had this problem and that is what lowrance told me to do. hope this helps.
