River smallies

My buddy called me this morning and was wondering if i wanted to go hit the Miss. river and do some bass fishing. I know there are people fishing walleyes now but how hard will it be to find bass and what lures should i try?? Never been out this early but how active are the fish in this cold water? Thanks for any info.

I have never been out this early in MN either, but it sounds like they are getting a few. I am thinking about trying next weekend. Some guys left me some good feedback in the Mississippi River pools 4+ forum, see under topic "Bass Biting?"
