Fuel Pump Leak?

MNBIGBEAR

Question

I have a '99 Yamaha 100 4 Stroke. The guy I bought it from did not really use it for the last three years and the fuel pumps are leaking. I am assuming that there is a gasket that has dry rotted and it is something that I can replace, but looking at the schematic, it looks like a pretty complicated process. Anyone else ever do this? Or, am I better off just buying new fuel pumps? confused.gif

I have the same motor. I bought it new in 1999. When servicing the motor in 2001, I noticed that one was leaking. It was still under the 3-year warranty and my dealer replaced both. They said there was a bad production lot of the pumps where the surfaces come together (where the gasket is) didn't fit evenly. I think you need to replace the pumps. I didn't look at it that hard but you may be able to do this yourself although the pumps will probably cost more than you hope. This is the only problem I've had with this motor.
