Here is my 2 cents... We bought a Ranger 18 ft. tiller last year and it is awesome. Ranger does not cut any corners what so ever!!! From the electrical all the way to the trailer hubs... We looked at the Warriors and the layout and the over all setup did not impress me. Just my 2 cents.

I've run a Warrior 2090 with a 135 Merc Optimax tiller for the last three seasons. I absolutely love it. I have run some other big tillers but this Warrior is by far the best boat I've run. It offers a very smooth soft ride even on rough seas. Not to mention it is very dry. Sure you get some spray in quartering winds but no boat is foolproof. The factory just came out with some really great design changes. They improved the storage doors, they are now completely dry and they now have an under floor rod storage. If you make it to the sportshow this week they have a beautiful 2090 rigged with a whopping 200 Yamaha tiller. It looks great, I was impressed. If you have any more ? email me. I'll try to help you out.

I do not want to start a p****** match with you skeeter guy but the quality of the Yar-Crafts went down the toilet a few years ago, besides, he is just asking about opinions on Warriors.

Nova, I have a 1890 falcon tiller w/90hp merc. I love it. It handels ruff water great. Have been out on mille lacs in 4footers and stayed dry. Boat control is easy. It has the hydrolic steering which I love when I am trolling because I can be hands free and still keep the boat on track while maybe tying another rod together or anything where I need both hands. The storage may not be as good as a ranger or other boats but there is plenty of room in there for the stuff I need while out fishing. I found the more storage the more you bring with you. I have fished four people out of it and it works just fine. The boat is wide enough so you arent cramed in. There new line of boats look great and the storage is getting better and the price isnt as high as the others. They have a great warranty on the hull. Hope this helps you.

I have fished out of a 177, a 1890, and a 2090. I loved all of them. My uncle has the 177 and it is perfect for the 5,000 acre lake that he keeps it on. The waves can get big, but it still has no problem. The 1890 is a very good boat. Not small and not too big. Great for any MN water. The 2090 is big, but it is perfect for Mille Lacs. PWT pro Dave Anderson has a 2090 with a 200 hp at the Sportsman's Show. My dad said it looks pretty sweet. The Warrior consoles are nice too. I am hoping to buy a Warrior some time after I graduate.

I know several people that run Warriors and some of them have purchased more than one.I think they are a well built boat and I havnt heard any complaints from people that have owned them.If I were looking for a new boat and they had a layout I liked I wouldnt be afraid to buy one.Sometimes you can look at some used ones and see how well they have held up or look at resale value.

I feel the Warrior is now the best walleye boat made. Ranger has tried to make a big water boat and has come close. Haven't seen this years Rangers but I thought last year their side storage made it hard to reach over the gunnel and release or net a fish. I agree Yar-Craft has gone down. I used to own one and Warrior has incorporated their great hull design. Since last year, I now own a Warrior 1890 tiller w/Yamaha 115 and like it very much. I have a friend who used to own the 20' tiller with a Merc 135 optimax. He downsized this year this year to an 1890 and stayed with the Merc. Their power steering for tillers is great. I hear Ranger has a system now too. Ranger has always been the best name in fishing boats but when it comes to big water deep-v boats, Warrior has taken the lead in my opinion.

About 5 years ago, I was really thinking about buying a Warrior, but I heard several complaints about the company not being very good about honoring their warranty. I don't know if anybody else had had any experience with them or heard similar complaints, but the thought of it was enough to persuade me to buy an 18ft ranger with 90 horse merc tiller, which works great for mille lacs and hasnt given me any problems yet. Just something else to think about.

Gottago, I heard that also. that is kinda why I posted this to see if any warrior owner had this issue. Doesn't sound like it so far. Thanks for the info guys. I would still like to hear more. Did not get a chance to go to the sports show so I'll have to look at a dealer.

I have a 92 177 Warrior with a 75 Merc I picked up used a few years back for fairly cheap. It has held up very well and I fish a lot in all kinds of conditions. I would buy another one.

Have fished out of Skeeters, Rangers and Yar Crafts and they are all nice boats as well. I prefer glass boats over aluminum.

Nova

I've got a 1998 1790 DC Eagle with a 1999 150 Merc Optimax and 9.9 Merc trolling motor.

With that being said, it's hard for me to give great praises as others have for Warrior boats. Perhaps my problems were due to the dealer (and I could go on and on and on about the problems I've had with the boat), but I'll sum up what I've experienced.

When I bought my boat, it did not have hydraulic steering. The steering rod was running into the side of the boat and gouging out the fiberglass. The boat also porpoised (sp?) TERRIBLY. With all the problems I had, it took a 2-page letter to Tom LaTour (president/owner of Warrior)with some threats to get all the problems somewhat fixed.

What they did for me was nice; a good faith effort. They put in hydraulic steering, they put shims on the boat, and they gave me a stainless steel prop to try and eliminate the porpoising (sp?). The problem...the dealer sold me the boat with the optimax on it, which weighs more than what the boat was designed for.

Current problems: boat still propoises with a full tank of gas, boat will porpoise with 4 people in it and no full tank of gas; I need to fill the livewell in the front full with water every time to distribute loads to the front end of the boat; livewell/baitwell drain switch does not work (had it fixed a couple of times but kept failing), boat trailer (Warrior trailer) is warped in the middle causing my trailer tires to wear on the insides making me have to buy new tires every 2 years (and this problem can't be fixed...I looked extensivly into this), the flow tube where water goes in to measure your speed keeps cutting, the dry storage in the center floor of the boat is not dry, the window cover for the cassette player is broke (and I never used it), lots of stripped screws, replaced air ride seat pedestals 3 times now, walkthrough window of the full windshield doesn't close worth a darn, and with the angle of the glass on the windsheild the carpet on top of the counsol has melted down in spots, not to mention a couple of small stress cracks in the transom.

Now, with that being said, they could have made NUMEROUS improvements to the design of the boat and trailer. I will give the boat this though, it handles big water extremely well. You'll break your back skipping over 3' waves before you will the boat.

However, I for one will never buy another Warrior. What I've mentioned in this post for problems is only the half of it. The rest of my problems were dealer related. I've become accustomed to all the problems with the boat and have adjusted my ways to the problems, but when spending that kind of money on a boat, one shouldn't have to adjust to problems. Maybe I just got a lemon, I don't know. But my past experiences with this boat, and it was the first one I ever bought (and brand new even), I can't get myself to ever go back to a Warrior. I'll be going Alumacraft in 3 years.

    • My kid was eating in Beverly Hills and ran into this guy. Talked to him a bit and wished him luck in the game tonight.
    • 🤔as a recovering machinist!🤣🤣that must make me a recovering welder!
    • As a recovering machinist, I can appreciate that.  If the spec is 0.001 - 0.0015, then clearly the correct measurement is 0.00125, duh…
    • I just figured that it is easy enough to just get a 3 bank so when the boat is not in use I can keep all 3 batteries charged. I have not bough a charger yet, maybe I will give it some more thought. Edit: After thinking this over, with the size, weight, and heat output of the charger (as well as the cost) I think it makes sense to just buy a 2 bank charger, I have a smaller charger i can use on the starting battery when the boat is sitting at home. Forgive me, for i am a retired engineer and I have to obsess over everything...
    • Congrats on the motor!  I think you’ll like it.   I can’t say much on the charger location but I’ve seen them under the lid in back compartments and under center rod lockers.  160 degrees is more than I expected to hear.   Curious why you’re opting for a 3 bank charger with a 24V trolling motor.  Unless you don’t feel you be running you big motor enough to keep that battery up as well?
    • I did buy an Minnkota Ulterra, thanks for the recommendations. I had a bunch of Cabela"s bucks saved up, which helped. Now i need to get an onboard battery charger. Where do you guys mount these things in your boat? The manufacturer I am looking at {Noco genius) says tht their 3-bank charger will run at 160 degrees, seems like a lot of heat in an enclosed compartment? Thanks for any input on this.
    • You're very lucky a troop of Sea Monkey's didn't carry you away.
