Boga vs Rapala

Recommended Posts

The biggest and most important difference is whether the head has a swivel or not, the Boga does have a swivel and rapala does not (if i remember correctly). Without the swivel the fish can do a nasty roll and that can hurt you, the fish or both.

I have read on other boards and they say the original boga is the only way to go.

Save your money, and get the BOGA!! I have the rapala, and it will hurt the fishes mouth. The rapals has the swivel feature, and 60 lb scale.

I ground all of the teeth off of it, and will try it out soon, but I"ve heard alot better reports on the boga.. Just make sure you have some kind of lanyard on it, so you aren't snorkling for it, if it goes overboard wink.gif

I recommend taking a look at a product called The Lipper.

I feel this is superior to both the Boga and Rapala products.

A couple of points: 1) You can lock The Lipper into open mode, and then press a button so it locks down on the fishes lip. No holding it open while you line up the fish.

2) The Lipper can either be in swivel or non-swivel mode. Sometimes you don't want the fish swiveling around, say when you are taking a photograph.

There are other benefits as well. Take a look at them side by side and I think The Lipper stands out.

Price is comparable to the Boga grip. Spendy, but good.
