Polar Kraft

Question

I'm purchasing a new Polar Kraft boat, I was just wondering if anyone on here has one, or anybody got any info on them.

From my research and looking at the boat in person it seems like a nice boat. Plus it bigger than most in the same class, like a Lund Rebel

I dont know much about the V hull Polar Craft boats.. I know the Jon Boats are as good as they get in their class.. they are very commonly used for commercial fishing.

I would assume they keep the same quality throughout their boat line. It looks like a heck of a nice boat and very comfortable.

If the price is right and its what your looking for, I would jump on it.

I would search on the net for some specs... dimensions and hull guage.. etc .. compare it to other boats in the same class.

Ya I've looked at the Lund, Smoker Craft, Crestliner and Tracker boats and this appears to be the biggest in its class. Its the only one with an 80" beam and handles the biggest motor. I really wanted a bigger boat feel to it, and some of the other boats just look small

First of all that looks like a very nice package, I have a friend with a 03 rebel with that 50 hp Yamaha 2-strk and it is an awesome motor! very quiet, sips fuel, plenty of power, and great top end- with 2 adults the rebel does a gps 36 mph.

Just an option to look into is the new Lund Classic 16 SS, it has a 84 in beam, and I think it's supposed to be their economical model, so you might get a pretty good price on it. It has a built in gas tank, and is rated for a 60 hp. Just do a google search for Lund boats, because it's not in their 2005 catalog, only the HSOforum. I did see this boat in person and thought it looked like an awesome boat!

One think to concider while buying a boat is the resale value. Lund has the best resale in the midwest, it may cost a little more up front, but it comes back when its time to sell it. My grandpa bought a Lund predator in 1986 for $5,500, and it would sell now for $4,500. Name recoginition is big when time comes to sell it, and if it might hurt that not many people know about polar kraft boats.

I don't know really anything about polar krafts, they could be and probably are excellent boats. I'm sure you will be very happy with whatever you choose, it's very exciting buying a new boat. Good luck on searching!

Thanks, ya I took a look at that Classic 16, thats actually a step above the Rebel. They run around 12-13k which is a bit more, but yea, its got a big boat feel to it. Its shorter at an even 16' but its wide and deep. Just a bit out of the price range though..

That sounds like a good speed, hope its about what I go, The rebel is two inches longer than mine, but like I said not as wide and as deep, I would think they are close to the same weight, I hope mine goes that fast!

I actually made the down payment and just waiting for some open water before I pick it up! They got me a deal on a Lowrance x87 that they are going to install for free, so I'm real happy about that too

Congratulations on the new boat!

I'm the same way as you, waiting to get the new boat out on the water. Be sure to follow the break-in schedule for the motor, from what I've heard, if you dont break them in, they'll run great for about 4 yrs, then start going to he!!. That looks like a great trailer with that boat, those bunk trailers with carpeted sides are very nice to use.

Hmm... whats the break in schedule?? I've never heard of it before.

Ya I'm excited about the trailer too, such a upgrade (as with everything else) from my old boat, it was impossible to stay dry when landing it, I'm excited about being able to drive up onto the trailer

I'm not sure if you need to do this with the Yamaha's, I know my friend didn't break it in with that motor, but he never follows the directions anyway. Anyway, with my boat, which has a 150 Suzuki 2-stk, your supposed to double the oil for the first tank of gas, and then on the initial start, your supposed to let it idle for 15 minutes before you increase the rpm's. For the first hour, the motor shouldn't get above 3000rpm's, and for the first 10 hrs your not suppose to run it at the same speed for over a minute, in other words, constantly alternate your speeds. My other friend had a new 50 hp 2-stk Mercury last year and was reccomended to do the same break-in schedule. I would call the dealer you bought it from and ask them about it.

I got an 18 ft Lund Explorer SS with the 150 Suzuki, and 24V 65lb thrust Minnkota. I got a really good deal on it because it was a new 2004. It's quite an upgrade from my Lund C-14 with a 25 Johnson tiller.

wow ya, that is an upgrade. Mine is a new 2004 model as well. Plus with the increase of new boat prices for '05 its a real good deal.

Mine is a pretty big upgrade from a 14' 1968 boat with a 1965 9.5hp Evinrude
