Need help for Clam seats

I purchased a new Voyager with fold down seats. I cannot get the black pin, which holds the back to the base, to slide in. I can bore the hole bigger to make it fit but I would rather not. Question, has anyone else had this problem? If so, what did you do to correct it.

Rubber mallet and some frustration/determination. Basically, just band the He..out of it.
