Electronic Ignition conversion kits

I would be installing one on a GM 4-cyl. I/O. Seems like a good idea to me? Especially for 'the pond' during the spring and fall. Anyone done this?

A distibutor with electronic Ignition would give you a lot more Spark which could help.

I would start with calling some Junk yards in the area.

I have points right know. I've seen the conversion kits for around $125 it fits the original distributor.

I was going to do this also but cost factor wasnt worth it I have a v-6 chev, but some one out there knows of a place to order it

Is this kit designed specifically for the marine application? The reason I ask is that I thought the distributors and other parts were specifically designed for marine use to reduce the chance of sparks igniting any gas fumes under the “hood”.

It's been a few years since a friend did his jet boat but I beleive he payed $100 bucks for the Distributor from a local junk yard.

Both conversion kits I've seen (Overton's and JC Whitney's) are for Marine applications. GM 4,6, and 8 cyl. and Ford 8 cyl. engines.
