MJR
Wiggins signed to a 5 yr deal yesterday, apparantly he was holding out until Tice realized that Jermaine wanted to actually play in the super bowl rather than sell tickets for it. I hope Tice goes to jail along with Kelly Campbel. What happened to the good old days when we just had a bunch of drinkers on the vikes???
Stratosman
That's funny...That is a good re-signing though. Wiggity-Wack led the Queens in receptions las year.
BackHerUp
Wiggins hasn't signed yet...at least it hasn't been reported on NFL.com or the official Vikings HSOforum...that was Smoot that signed for 5 years... Vikings are still pursuing tight ends. That's why Freddie Jones visited the Vikings yesterday (March 8th). They're are trying to sign either him or Jermaine Wiggins...which makes me wonder what's up with Kleinsasser?
Stratosman
He has signed, check ESPN HSOforum they'll tell ya. They did indeed talk with Jones because they weren't sure that Wiggins would sign but apparently he did. Kliensausage is better suited to be a blocking back and not a tight end, bad hands. fishyguy
You have to forgive Backherup. Being a Detroit fan he is only cofortable being last. Last to know, last to get it, last place in the NFC North, etc... The reason they brought Jones in was to get Wiggins to sign and as a backup plan if things fell apart with Wiggins. Wiggins averaged about 12 catches a year before Daunte threw him 71 balls last year. He wasn't going anywhere.
MJR
From espn: I guess Wiggins hasn't actually signed but he agreed to sign.Unrestricted free agent tight end Jermaine Wiggins, coming off what was by far the most productive season of a five-year NFL career, has reached a contract agreement to remain with the Minnesota Vikings. The five-year contract to which Wiggins agreed, and which is expected to be signed in the next few days, is worth $7.3 million and includes a $1 million signing bonus. That is quite a jump for a journeyman veteran who has played for minimum base salaries during much of his league tenure. Not sure about Kleinsasser but he was pretty much hurt all last year. I do not think he is a FA this year.Smoot's contract is for six years and a total of $34 million. It includes bonus money of $10.8 million. Now Tice is admitting he was scalping tickets as an assistant. You would have thought he would have learned something from the T-wolves and Joe Smith. Tice's excuse was that pretty much all coaches do it. Sounds like he wants to be made an example of.
BackHerUp
FishyBreath says: Quote:You have to forgive Backherup. Being a Detroit fan he is only cofortable (comfortable) being last. (Didn't finish last, last year now did we?) Last to know, last to get it, last place in the NFC North (get used to it, that's where you're headed)etc... The reason they brought Jones in was to get Wiggins to sign and as a backup plan if things fell apart with Wiggins (ha-ha! with that mercury-filled head of yours, you were actually able to figure that out?!!). Wiggins averaged about 12 catches a year before Daunte threw him 71 balls last year. He wasn't going anywhere. But you're right...I just saw it mentioned on ESPNEWS, along with the blurb about Tice being investigated by the NFL for "scalping" his Super Bowl tickets...Wiggins' signing is still not on the NFL.com or the Vikings websites yet...maybe until it's "official" with the league... lawdog
Kleinsasser is their blocking TE while Wiggins is their pass catching TE. They'll both be there. Follow along Backherup! We aren't the Lions, we can have a few good players at once instead of all bums!!!!!!!
Down to Earth
Wiggins was key, especially with Moss headed to Oakland. JMO
fishyguy
No you did not finish last but I was referencing what you are used to (It is a common place for your Lions over the last decade, oh yeah, the Tigers also). Besides 3rd out of 4 is a lot closer to last than 2nd. If I remember right you bailed out on these highly intellectual conversations last December because your team was done and left us Vikes and Pack fans to battle with each other during the playoffs (the dictionary should have a explanation of the playoffs since you are unfamiliar). I am ready to accept wagers on a higher finish between the Vikes and Lions next year. Sounds like both teams are improving a great deal, we just didn't have so far to go. buzzsaw
Oh oh you guys are going to rile up our friend from the motor city!! be careful or he will tell you that Eric Hipple was the greatest QB ever or that Wayne Fontes was the best coach ever... anything from Michigan is always the best you know?! or atleast it is in his eyes. I'll take the side of the Vikings finishing higher in that bet if backherup wants some action (although I already owe him a twelve pack)
Rip_Some_Lip
I figured it would come down to the Vikes and Lions next year in the division race before the free agent signings and draft. Now I think it will be Vikes all the way!!!
8-Ball
They are worried about FLYINGSAUCER 'cause he is perenially on the DL...
