stillhunter
came across a deal and upgraded my multi-person ice tent. Nice shape but it does have a couple of holes in the tub. I ordered a runner kit from Thorne Bros, but wondered if anyone had any suggestions on how to patch the holes? I looked at fiberglass patch kits but know that some compounds don't get along and I might make it worse than it is now.Have not had any luck trying to locate a replacement tub online, which is OK as I'm saving for a trip to Devil's Lake in a week.Anyone suggestions? Thanks in advance
Moose-Hunter
Not knowing what kind of tub you need to fix makes it kind of tough... However, take a peek at this thread. It may give you a few ideas... Otter sled repair...
wall eyell be
I have an older fishtrap; the tub material is not a thick as this year's tubs. I used JB Weld to patch a crack about an inch long and a hole about the size of a dime. It has one season of hard use and has held up well. The season of hard use includes: two trips to Red in the back of an SUV two trips to Red in a utility trailer two trips to Mille Lacs in the utility trailer numerous outings on Metro Lakes So I'm satisfied that the patches have held up to heavy usage. DrKen
If the holes are not too big, try Ptex for ski's. Melt it into the hole and scrape smooth. You can buy sticks at most ski shops.
stillhunter
Thanks all,A rep from Thorne Bros had suggested the JB weld idea. Will take a look at the Ptex idea too. I didn't mention it was a 4-yr old FishTrap shelter, sled does seem light compared to my old tent I just sold. Thanks again
