handheld gps help

leechlake

Question

I have an old Garmin GPS (12?). Anyway, I have a lowrance 6000c on my boat and I want to get a handheld that has features similar to that. I guess brand is irrelevant to me, I'm sure everyone has their favorite. What features should I look for, I'll mainly use it for ice fishing, open water with my little boat, and hunting. If anyone has a favorite that they use for the above uses let me know.

The Lowrance Hand helds will operate exactly like your 6000c. The menus will be the same as they are for all Lowrance/Eagle units. If you can operate one, you can operate all of them. Plus you can use the same Lake contour and data chips for your hand held and your 6000c. The hand helds that take the chips start with the I-finder pro and go up from there in price. The I-finder pro is "water resistant" and the next unit above that is tha H20 which is "water proof". No difference between them other than that. The Hunt unit is the same as the H20 only it has an electronic compass and Altimiter. The other untits above that are color, and play music.
