korn_fish
Looking for feedback from anyone that has some sort of mapping software for Canada. Primarily looking for Ontario, english river system. If you have something, jut let me know the software provider or the specific garmin map that I should be looking for. I don't expect to see contour maps of the english river system, but shorelines, islands would be great.Thanks.
Harmonator
Korn fish,I do not have an answer to your question but I do have a web site that might interest you. http://crownlanduseatlas.mnr.gov.on.ca/ You have to look a bit to find your area but it does contain shorelines, islands etc.

Canuck
Korn fish: Got back from Calgary late yesterday. Are U looking for maps that are showing reefs etc, topo maps, or roads? I have the topo's and roads and have loaded them in my 76S and find them quite helpful. I will be purchasing the maps to show the depths later this spring and hope to download Lake Huron in Ontario. I check them out at the store and they look OK but have not used them YET.English River, where in Northern Ontario are you lookings? My 76S has only 24 mg so I can only down load small areas at a time but usually it is sufficient. korn_fish
Canuk - I Fish the english river stretch below Manitou Falls. Wegg Lake, Wilcox etc. Reefs, contours would be great, but I didn't think they made them for this stretch of the river. So I am thinking the Topo map might be the next best thing as I beleive it will have a pretty accurate picture of the shorelines and I will probably be doing a little hunting up there some day soon. The US road map shows shorelines of lakes, but the accuracy of the shoreline is horrible. i.e. 1/4 mile off from actual shoreline. So I figure that the Canada road maps would have similar characteristics. I heard that the Canada Topo map also shows some roads and trails. Is that true? Canuck
I pullup up my topos for Manitou Falls and Wegg Lake which appears to be part of the English River System. I went down to the 1.5 mile scale and it showed small islands throughout the system. It actually showed two small rivers one s/w of Wegg Lake (town) and another s/e. I also found the invoice for the topos and they cost 205.19 Canadian. Not something I thing U would want for one trip to Canada that may be what U need. I am going to try and see if there is any way I can isolate a portion of the map and email it to U. I am not very good with these things but will give it a try if U like. I know how to print it but that doesn't help U.
korn_fish
Thanks for looking into this Canuck !!!!!I found a guy down here in Minneapolis that had it on his PC and you are correct, it is what I am looking for. there are several guys in our party that have a Garmin mapping compatible unit, so we are going to go in together to purchase the software. Found it online for 140 Canadian. Thanks for the offer of the email thing and your time on this though. It was greatly appreciated.
