mr wizard
Boilerguy, Do you know how far these these birds are flying from the roost to feed? Are they feeding in beans or corn? Do the fields have standing water in them or are they "dry"?Is this the first group you've seen? If this is the first wave of matures coming thru I think I'll wait a week . Eric Wettschreck
I'm guessing these are still the first group of mature birds. The cold snap and hurricane winds, I think, have kinda slowed everything down.Roost to field is less than a mile. However, there are a lot of birds on other lakes. I don't know how far they are flying to feed.Beans and corn and borderline just plain dirt. Mostly chiseled corn fields. I think they know the supply of grub in the corn fields is better. They have to work harder in the chiseled bean fields to get chow.No snow, no real standing water in the fields. It's been a pretty dry winter down here. I wouldn't call the fields "Dry", however. More like really super muddy.
WalleyeWeasel
E, i have your info. I Won't be able to head that way THIS weekend, can you get out during the week, or weekends only ??
Eric Wettschreck
I'm pretty much a weekend only kind of guy. Work some crazy hours during the week. Next weekend is gonna be kind of weird for me also. We have a fire drill Sat morning. Sunday I have to move my daughter out of town so I'm thinking I won't be doing any hunting. If you come down give me a call. If I can squeak out I will.
