Check wiring and how tight the bulb is in the socket could be cutting power uder vibration at a higher rpm. Does the machine have the newer digital/ anaglog speedo with the large digital display, if so with the machine off, lock the parking brake, push in the override button and turn the igniton switch to on, not start postion, should read ver 1.8 then start machine and push the override button to scroll though unitl you get to voltage meter and rev it up and see what charging it at, should be 14 t0 15 volts.
