My first trip past dryden is late may to early ?

It all depends on the weather. I've been up to Ear Falls in May four times now. Three of the four were ok, but the last trip we had plenty of snow and cold. The fish were really tight lipped that week. Then again I've had the same in mid-June.

I have been going up to Manitou falls camp the last few years. We usually go up the 1st to 2nd week in june. Naughty pines burnt down and as of now is no longer there. They were starting to rebuild last year but it will take a while. Fishing up in the English is by far the best I have ever seen. We put over 50 plus fish in the boat a day. Had one nice ski follow by the mouth of wegg lake at the rapids( there is a big rock that comes up to about 5-6 feet with 20 plus fow all around). One thing is the water is pretty cold yet and the fish are shallow. You need to be able to check water temps anywhere you plan on fishing.. it olny take 1-2 degree difference to turn these fish on. Most people when we go up are not doing well because they are in too cold of water to nail the fish.Last year one boat in our group cought 8 eyes between 24-28 inches in a row!!! and were fishing the inside weed edge in 4 feet of water. I was on the outside edge in 8-10 feet and still ended up with a few over 26 and one just about 28 but the shallower water was much better.

Just remember if your not catching fish look for warmer water where bait will hold and there will be fish there.Sometimes you have to spend you first day looking for a few areas but it pays off.

Wegg has been a good lake for Muskies but we have had more luck on eyes at the end of the system. The water was up about 6 feet last year and we were able to get into Johnson(great lake for eyes) and clear(I belive was the name)where you can catch lakers.

I hope that helps. We have done well in deep water also but you are going to be up too early for that I think.
