minnkota vantage

Can anyone give me their opinion on the vantage trolling motor as I am considering buying one for my boat? I currently hava a 55 pound thrust minnkota which is sufficent for my boat. Could I expect that something equivalent in the vantage would be OK?

I have the 101# 36 V and like it alot although it will be for sale here shortly as I prepare to sell my boat.

Depending on the size of your boat, you should atleast go with the 24V. The Vantage uses battery amps when you deploy and bring the motor back up. Having the extra amps will help. The Vantage is a great motor for boat control.

I have the 24 v vantage. They are absolutely great motors for many reasons. I like the 4 to 1 steering ratio, speed control on the thumb dial, power stow and deploy....All making boat control and ease of use that much better.

Like Derek said above though, go with the 24 volt minimum. If you don't want to spend the money or time to set up for 24 volt, then I don't know if I would really bother to switch from what you are running. It would be worth your time and money to upgrade to 24v.

I also like my Vantage (24V) - the 4:1 steering is really nice to have. Have not regretted that purchase at all.

i have the 24 volt vantage and to me it is the best thing since sliced bread. one suggestion if you buy it would be to invest in an outboard motor lock to protect your investment

Thank you all for the helpful info. I think I will follow your suggestion of going with the 24 volt system as I am set up for 24 volt in the front of the boat already. A little wiring and I'll be set in the back also. Thanks guys!

one thing to remember when wiring for the 24 volt vantage. it comes with 3 wires ' yellow black and red. red is to be hooked to 12 volt ONLY as the up and down deploying motor is a 12 volt motor
